Why rockpaperME?

ROCK:
A job is foundational

PAPER:
Resumes are an integral part of the job search process

ME:
Everyone has their own unique story to tell

It all started when…

Several years ago, founder Josh Ostby had just moved to Denver, Colorado and was searching for a job. He didn’t have a strong network in the area, and was struggling to make connections in a competitive job market. He spent hours and hours submitting dozens of resumes every week for several months with very few responses, and gaining very little traction. He found the search process painful, slow, deflating, and simply broken.

After a few months of searching, Josh’s personal life began to decline. Not only was his bank account suffering, but not having a job was beginning to negatively affect his family, his attitude, his health, and his relationships. Something had to change.

Josh realized that throughout the job application process, despite constant updates and enhancements to his resumes and cover letters, he still wasn’t getting the “ME” across to companies and recruiters. He wasn’t telling HIS unique story, and wasn’t making a good first impression - or an impression at all.

That was when Josh created his first video. Just using his smartphone, Josh filmed himself telling his story and experience using his own words. He created a link and sent it off to four companies, then waited.

Out of the four companies he sent the link to, three responded to set up an interview. Josh was floored. This was the progress he had been seeking, and became the inspiration for creating rockpaperME.

The rockpaperME app came out of Josh’s desire to communicate his own unique story to employers, and make a real impression. Learn more about rockpaperME and how it will help you get noticed, get an interview, and get a job.
